Race Cars and Animal Songs

From September 2009
Wow, we had an adventure today! Eleanor made a long journey over the river (of rain) and through the woods (of some guy's ranch), to see Uncle Russell drive his race car. We were looking for something fun and exciting to do and we sure found it - race cars come in many colors and go fast, so they are really cool to watch. We weren't sure Eleanor would be interested, since we were watching from inside the car at the top of a hill, but she was!
Eleanor got the grumpies on the way home because her little bottom was sore, so Aunt Mary Beth and I did some experimenting. In my experience, the only songs Eleanor really wants to hear when she's mad are the frog song ("5 green and speckled frogs, sitting on a bumpy log. . . ") and the duck song ("5 little ducks went out one day, over the hill and far away. . ."). Sometimes I get a wee bit tired of singing those two songs, so Aunt Mary Beth tried out the many, many songs she knows to try to find some alternatives. The answer is: if Eleanor is upset, she only likes songs with animals and counting. How does she know? Why does she care? And most important: what are some more songs with animals and counting?! :)
