15 months and climbing the walls

This week Eleanor learned to exit her crib independently. I put her to bed and went into the kitchen to clean up, and 15 minutes later I heard: "thump. pat pat pat pat" and in she walks looking very pleased! She landed in the laundry basket, so she didn't even take a hard fall. That's good, because she wasn't hurt, but it's also bad because she has no motivation to stop flinging herself out since it was not at all unpleasant. Since she's so young, we haven't ordered the toddler conversion kit for her crib or shopped for a twin bed yet. But I don't want her to keep falling so far. So I took her crib apart and put the mattress on the floor. We're going to say it's a Montessori floor bed, both because I like a lot of Montessori philosophy (she goes to a Montessori preschool) and think the floor bed is an interesting concept, and because it sounds so much nice than sticking her mattress on the floor.
