38.2 Week Update

Well, still pregnant up here, so none of you have missed much. We had another non-stress test this week of course, and fortunately she slept through the second half of this one instead of the first half and spared us some stress. She doesn't like the monitor at all, and Richard kept having to chase her with it. You'd think she'd be used to it by now, but lots of her really good accelerations were while she was trying to move out from under the little device and we kept missing parts. Stubborn girl. I suspect she was trying to get more grape juice out of it, since I never give her grape juice except during NSTs.
We also had another sono on Friday, and it was also quite good. Her breathing movements look good, which is a very good sign of a healthy and well-perfused baby, and my AFI is 17 (that just means I have a healthy amount of amniotic fluid, I only throw the actual number out for Nancy's benefit.) She also kept her little arm flung accross her face for most of it. I think she's being a little dramatic about the whole thing. Richard did get another good look at her feet, which is his favorite part.
We do have an interesting challenge on: the midwife feeling the baby estimated she weighed right at 6 pounds on Thursday, which would make her about 7 pounds if we go to 40 weeks. Healthy size but not large. One day later the sono estimated she weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces. That's just shy of a 2 pound difference, which I think is pretty funny - she probably didn't grow two pounds in one day. The good news is either one of those weights would be healthy and fine, now or at 40 weeks. Just one would be slim to normal and one would be normal to chunky.
I think we are just about ready, the bags are finally packed (those of you who saw the list of things we're supposed to bring will understand why that took so long!). Carseat is installed and the little sidecar for her to sleep in at first is assembled. And of course she has the most ridiculously cute nursery you have ever seen. Mostly for my benefit at first, I know, but still. She also has recessed lighting in the living room and kitchen. Every baby needs that.
I am only a little tired so far of answering "haven't you had that baby yet?" questions at work. I don't really understand why people ask that. I think perhaps I will start saying "yes" just to see what happens.
She has declined to be encouraged so far - babies will come when they want. It would just be great for her to want to come this weekend :)
